Cold Cases

JoAnne P. Harris

Case: 69-3328
Ms. Harris, a 39 year old, was last seen at the Ivy Wild Inn, 1529 S. Nevada Avenue on October 13, 1969. Ms. Harris' body was discovered on November 16, 1969, along the road to NORAD. The autopsy revealed the cause of death was strangulation.


 

Francis G. Romisch

Case: 75-2264
Mr. Romisch, a 19 year old Fort Carson soldier, was found on June 17, 1975 along Highway 115. The autopsy revealed Mr. Romisch had been shot multiple times.

 


 

Cristobal F. Delgado

Case: 75-2444
On June 23, 1975, two unknown males entered Hoyles Market, 1638 South Nevada Avenue demanding money. Mr. Delgado, a 53 year old, was killed during the robbery. The autopsy revealed the cause of death was as result of a gunshot wound.

Peggy S. Gaylord

Case: 78-6798
Ms. Gaylord, an 18 year old, was last seen hitchhiking south on Highway 115, south of Colorado Springs. On December 12, 1978, her body was discovered alongside Barrett Road, west of Highway 115. The autopsy revealed the cause of death was blunt force trauma.


 

William D. Bennington

Case: 82-1516
Mr. Bennington, a 26 year old, was last seen on December 23, 1981 in Woodland Park, Colorado. On May 5, 1982, his body was discovered off of Rampart Range Road in El Paso County. The autopsy revealed the cause of death was blunt force trauma.


 

Percilla (Badial) Bowers

Case: 85-2763
Ms. Bowers, a 19 year old, was last seen by her family hitchhiking on Highway 85/87 in September 1984. On August 12, 1985, her remains were found in a shallow grave on Pine Oaks Road. The autopsy revealed the cause of death was blunt force trauma.


 

John Doe

Case: 86-4787

On November 3, 1986, at 11:13 a.m., The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office responded to human remains being found 4 miles west of Interstate 25, in the Midway Ranch area.  Found with the remains were pieces of Calvin Klein denim jeans size 30/33, bluish/green colored sweatshirt and a 1” wide brown leather belt. No identification was found.  

A Forensic Autopsy, Anthropology and Odontology examinations were performed. The finding concluded that the human remains were those of a Caucasian male, 5’4” to 5’7”, 30 to 40 years of age, hair color is unknown.  The forensic investigation reflects the remains had been in place from one to four years. The Odontologist concluded that the subject had a deep overbite and no dental restorations. The Calvin Klein denim jeans were manufactured in 1981.

Missing Persons files in many jurisdictions were searched over the years and the remains have never been identified. Two forensic sculptors have created two reconstructions, one being completed in 1987 and 2016.

Linda L. Robson

Case: 87-2125
Ms. Robson, a 27 year old, was last seen leaving the Starlite Lounge in Fountain, Colorado, on December 28, 1986. On May 11, 1987, her body was found in southeastern El Paso County. She may have been killed in her Fountain home. The autopsy revealed the cause of death was blunt force trauma.


 

Walter Mueller

Case: 88-2423
Mr. Mueller, a 32 year old, and was last seen leaving work on North Nevada Avenue on March 8, 1988. He left work early not feeling well. On April 11, 1988, his body was found off of Rampart Range Road. The autopsy revealed the cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds.


 

Karen D. Aguilera

Case: 88-3053
Ms. Aguilera, a 23 year old, was last seen on September 17, 1987. On May 10, 1988, her body was found in a field near Curtis Road and Falcon Highway. The cause of death is undetermined.
 


 

Towana Lewis

Case: 88-6053
Ms. Lewis, a 17 year old, was last seen on September 8, 1988 at Prospect Lake. On September 11, 1988, her body was discovered in a ditch off of Goldfield Road near the Widefield subdivision. The autopsy revealed the cause of death was asphyxiation.
 


 

Kelly L. Asher

Case: 88-6982
Ms. Asher, a 27 year old, was last seen October 13, 1988 leaving the DeVille Motel on South Nevada Avenue. On October 18, 1988, her body was discovered lying on the side of Highway 115, south of Colorado Springs. The cause of death is undetermined.
 


 

Jocynda Irwin

Case: 90-2993
Ms. Irwin, a 24 year old, was last seen on April 18, 1990 by her family. On April 19, 1990, her body was discovered in the vicinity of Rampart Range Road and Loy Gulch Road. The cause of death is undetermined.

 


 

Thomas L. Livingston

Case: 94-4553
On April 23, 1994, Mr. Livingston, a 35 year old, received a package by mail. When he opened the package it exploded killing him.


 


 

Dusty Thomas

Case: 99-5516

On April 27, 1999, the body of Dusty Thomas was located down a steep embankment off West Highway 24 in Cascade, CO. Thomas had been missing out of Pueblo, CO. The cause of death was ruled a homicide.


 

Ricky A. Espinoza

Case: 01-7981
Mr. Espinoza, a 37 year old, was last seen on June 24, 2001, walking along South Nevada Avenue from East Las Vegas Street. On June 28, 2001, his body was found in a landfill in southeastern El Paso County. The autopsy was unable to determine a cause of death.
 


 

Francisco Felix-Ochoa

Case: 09-12997
Francisco Felix-Ochoa, a 33 year old, was last seen on May 31, 2009. On September 18, 2009 his body was discovered in the bushes off of Highway 115. The autopsy revealed Mr. Felix-Ochoa had been shot multiple times.
 

 


 

Jamie Essig

Case: 11-11400
Jamie Essig, a 30 year old, was last seen on March 9, 2011 on Candlestar Loop North, in Fountain, Colorado. On September 11, 2011 her remains were found off of Vollmer Road in Northern El Paso County. The cause of death is undetermined.


 

Oscar Martinez

Case: 16-16644

On 12/6/2016, 42 year old Oscar Martinez was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside an apartment located at 501 Security Blvd.


 

Timothy Watkins

Case: 17-49884

On September 17, 2017, the remains of Timothy Watkins were discovered on Mount Herman near Limbaugh Trail. Mount Herman is located near Monument, Colorado. Prior to the discovery of Mr. Watkins, his mountain bike was also located on Mount Herman. The cause of death was listed as homicide.


 

Missing Persons - Suspicious Circumstances

Linda J. Barker

Case: 82-1153
Ms. Barker, a 29 year old, was last seen on April 7, 1982 leaving her residence, 11340 Goodson Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was driving a white/blue blazer, Colorado license plates UA-6471. Ms. Barker has never been located.

 


 

Barbara Baumann

Case: 82-1634

Barbara Jean Baumann went missing from Colorado Springs in the Pikes Peak area on May 18th, 1982. She was possibly nude, wearing only a lavender blanket, and emotionally unstable. Ms. Baumann may have been enroute to Wisconsin.


 

Bryan D. Ambrose

Case: 82-3202
Mr. Ambrose, a 23 year old, was last seen on September 8, 1982 leaving the Rainbow Motel, 3709 West Colorado Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado and was going to the Denver Metro area. On September 9, 1982, Mr. Ambrose’s Ford pickup truck was found in Pueblo, Colorado. Investigators learned Mr. Ambrose may have met up with a Carlos Anthony Torres, aka: "Cat." Torres had a tattoo of a black cat on his left shoulder. Mr. Ambrose has never been located.

 


 

Austin and Edward Bryant

Case: 11-884
On January 22, 2011 the El Paso County Sheriff's Office received a report of two missing children. The reporting parties informed investigators the two missing boys lived at 18060 Granite Circle in Monument, Colorado, with their adoptive parents Edward and Linda Bryant. Upon interviewing Edward and Linda in Texas, investigators learned the boys had run away in 2005. Edward claimed the boys ran away on separate dates while Linda stated they ran away at the same time. Edward and Linda have been receiving monthly payments from Colorado DHS due to the boys having special needs. Both parents admitted to claiming the boys were still living with them and have been arrested on theft charges.

 


 

Timothy Lee Copley

Case: 14-8062
Mr. Copley left his residence located at 4319 W. Colorado Ave in Colorado Springs on June 20, 2014, to attend a 9:00 AM counseling meeting at the Warriors Support Center located at 1330 Quail Lake Loop, Colorado Springs. He was traveling by bus and missed his connection while at the bus terminal. He telephoned his girlfriend from the bus terminal and stated he would be returning home since he missed his connection. Mr. Copley has never returned home.

 


 

Lori Layman

Case: 15-6360
She was last seen on 04/30/ 2015 at a hotel located at 430 W Garden of the Gods Road in Colorado Springs. Lori was known to travel between Washington State and Colorado. Her vehicle, a gold KIA van, was located in the Southgate area of Colorado Springs in the 2000 block of South El Paso Street.

 


 

Jane Mudder

Case: 18-7707

On or about May 5, 2018, Jane Mudder went missing and has not been heard from since. She was living with two roommates off of Highway 24 in El Paso County, Colorado and reportedly was picked up by an unknown male and departed on that same day. Her wallet and cell phone were recovered at the address where she was residing.
