Biography

John Molatch is an 18.6 year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office is currently assigned as the Detention Operation Commander.  He was promoted to his current rank in July 2012.  During his tenure with the office, he has been assigned to various assignments within the Detention Bureau. Commander Molatch’s assignments also include serving as Commander for both Detention Security and the Detention Operations Division.  He has served as a Training Academy Instructor, Detention Training Officer and a member of the Special Response Team.  He is currently the Commander of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team. Commander Molatch is the recipient of several awards to include the Leadership Award, Lifesaving Award and Sheriff’s Commendation.  

Commander Molatch earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminology / Sociology from Colorado State University – Pueblo and is working on completing graduate level coursework in Leadership and Organizational Management.  In addition to his career with the Sheriff’s Office, Commander Molatch had the distinct pleasure of serving with the United States Army Military Police Corps for 22 years (1973-1995). He earned many distinguishing honors and awards during his tenure with the United States Army.
