Sheriff's Office to present Two 9-1-1 Hero Awards

The El Paso County Communications Center, along with Sheriff Elder, will be recognizing two 9-1-1 Heros on Friday March 27, 2015, at 3:00 P.M. at the Office of the Sheriff, 27 E. Vermijo Avenue, in the 3rd Floor Community Room.

On February 6, 2015, 11 year old Rachel Ryes called 9-1-1 for her mother who was choking.  Rachel provided her address and phone number to 911 call taker Felicia Fraker, along with a detailed description of what was happening throughout the 12 minute phone call.  She stayed on the line and followed medical instructions until help arrived.  Rachel was extremely calm and collected through the entire emergency.

On November 22, 2014, 12 year old Leon Conn called 9-1-1 for his mother who had a medical emergency and had fallen down.  Leon provided his address and phone number to 911 call taker Ashley Whitaker and stayed on the line until help arrived.  Leon followed medical instructions until help arrived and ensured the front door was open for responders.  Leon displayed a sense of calmness and maturity during his mother's emergency.
